Description

The Nottingham Local Transport Plan Strategy forms the long term transport strategy for the City Council's administrative area up to 2026. The LTP has been developed with a view to achieving economic, environmental and health benefits to local citizens and businesses. Transport's role in supporting the economy and enabling enterprise, reducing carbon emissions from transport, maintaining our current transport assets and providing and enhancing an integrated transport system are core themes of this strategy.

Nottingham City Council In November 2016 as part of the Autumn Statement, the Government announced a new funding stream to be known as the National Productivity Investment Fund, which would see additional funding allocated to transport improvements. On the 13th January 2017, further details about how this funding was to be allocated was announced, with funding being provided through this fund to councils through grant formulae. The allocation for Nottingham City Council is for £968,000 for 2017/18. The Government has indicated that the National Productivity Investment Fund will be in place for future years. Local authorities have to confirm that funding from the National Productivity Investment Fund will be spent on improving local road networks, for example, highways and public transport networks.

Nottingham City Council is responsible for producing the LTP3 for Nottingham. A draft document comprising a 15 year Strategy and three year Implementation Plan will be ready for public consultation during autumn 2010. Both a Strategic Environmental Assessment and an Equality Impact Assessment will be required as part of the process for developing this LTP. The environmental impacts of capital investment programmes such as those found in the Local Transport Plan must be given proper consideration both during plan development and implementation. Nottingham City Council are required to produce an Environmental Report on the likely significant environmental impacts of the measures proposed in the LTP strategy.
