Reduction in Annual Grant: Futures Advice, Skills and Employment Futures are currently contracted on an annual basis to provide a NEET reduction/prevention service on behalf of Nottingham City Council. The service provides support to young people at risk of and who are NEET aged 14 to 18 or over 19 with a disability or Educational Health Care Plan, to participate in education and training, targeting its interventions to young people within 'priority group one' who are more likely to be vulnerable as, for example they are a looked after child, a care leaver, or are a young carer. A reduction of 185,000 pounds is proposed from the annual grant, which will be managed through a reduction of management overhead. This is therefore unlikely to have a negative impact on front line service delivery.

Description

The proposal is for a change to the current vacant dedicated Access Officer post within the Building Control team. Previously there has been a dedicated post within the Building Controls team which has focussed on accessibility requirements both within Local Authority buildings and with external planning and building control proposals across the City. This post is now vacant. As part of the budget proposals, it is proposed to develop this post to enable it to undertake part time work on the specialist Accessibility advice and the remainder of the time on core Building Control work. This will enable the part funding of this post through fees therefore increasing the sustainability of this post whilst ensuring that the Accessibility advice work continues. Consideration has been undertaken of the scope of the Building Regulations legislation and it is considered that the service provided by this post is above the Statutory Building Regulations minimum.
