Recent research suggests that Deaf people experience poorer physical and mental health than hearing people, and that Deaf people find it difficult to access services. Local services need to be aware of their local communities in order to provide and plan services. This report summarises the findings of a survey to find out about Nottinghamshire Deaf people¿s experiences of health and social care.

Nottingham City has developed a single overarching framework for action so that children, families and adults can achieve a healthy weight. This strategy describes our partnership plans to promote healthy weight and tackle unprecedented levels of obesity. The evidence is very clear. Significant action to prevent obesity at a population level that targets elements of the 'obesity promoting' environment as well as improving nutrition and physical activity in individuals is required. This strategy brings together, coordinates and focuses the contributions of all partner organisations. By aligning our efforts we will increase the number and proportion of children and adults who are a healthy weight.

OSCAR is a voluntary organisation supporting sickle cell anaemia sufferers and their families. They have secured ??10,000 to deliver cookery and nutrition programmes after attending a workshop run by Nottingham Insight and Nottingham NCVS to help organisations evidence their bids using this tool.

DH Insight was commissioned by Nottingham City PCT to conduct a scoping study to inform the development of a social marketing campaign aimed at reducing salt intake in target groups within the city. The project focused on African Caribbean and South Asian communities.

The project focused on smokers aged over forty, living in areas in Nottingham city with higher than average smoking rates and risk of admission to hospital for heart disease and diabetes.
