It is recognised that good sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality, sexual relationships and includes a number of key elements including: Prevention and treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) Sexual well-being services, including advice & access to contraception Prevention of unintended pregnancy and access to termination services Safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults Addressing risk taking behaviour and building resilience Prevention (and treatment & care*) of HIV and reducing late diagnosis Provision of open access sexual health services has been a mandatory requirement for Local Authorities since April 2013 and the challenge is to ensure we continue to deliver high quality and effective services

Councillor Alex Norris opened a Public Health Forum to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week and to launch the new Nottingham City Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy which identifies five key priorities for action: Promoting mental resilience and preventing mental health problems Identifying problems early and supporting effective interventions Improving outcomes through effective treatment and relapse prevention Ensuring adequate support for those with mental health problems Improving the wellbeing and physical health of those with mental health problems.The forum will be interactive and aims to enhance awareness and understanding of mental health and wellbeing Encourage more people to be aware of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing Challenge stigma and discrimination Help shape the future delivery of the strategy.
